NEW STORE COMES TO ALUM ROCK VILLAGE

After being vacant and an eyesore for months in Alum Rock Village, the former Bodega Market space is getting ready to re-open this summer. You probably noticed the bright new paint and modernized store front. Those are just a few of the upgrades that are taking place to make The Village Store ready for its first customers this August. According to San Jose's Redevelopment point person for Alum Rock, the new store will be a small grocery with fresh fruit and veggie bins out front, and a deli/eating area in the back. The new owners are reportedly trying to get things ready for the grand opening in time for the Alum Rock Salsa Festival, which is coming on August 2nd. The Salsa Festival will be a local street happening with a closure planned for Alum Rock Avenue in the village area. It should be fun!

What happened to this store. I thought that it was going to open for the salsa festival?
